Specialized Support Services (K-12)

Our Learning Support program is offered continuously from Pre-K through Grade 12. This program delivers highly personalized guidance and focused instruction across core academic areas, including mathematics, reading, expressive writing, and executive function development (study skills).

In addition, we offer access to specialized therapeutic services, including Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

Instructional delivery is founded on collaborative learning, focusing on organizational and study skills to maximize each student's academic potential.

Elementary School

The Elementary Learning Support program delivers specialized instructional strategies and customized interventions focused on developing foundational academic skills. Our support is specifically structured around enhancing core mathematical abilities and strengthening literacy across four key domains: phonological awareness, reading comprehension, spelling, and expressive writing.

Instructional Delivery and Environment

Support is delivered through flexible and strategic models designed for continuous practice and review:
In-Class Integration: We provide seamless support directly within the classroom environment, utilizing both in-class consultation and co-teaching partnerships with general education teachers.
Targeted Small Group Instruction: Students also engage in small, flexible group lessons to receive focused, explicit instruction, ensuring consistent practice of essential skills and learning strategies.

Admissions Process

Consideration for admission to Learning Support is given to students who are performing behind their peers. Each applicant is considered on a case-by-case basis by the Director of Student Services in consultation with the Principal, Counselor, and Learning Support Teacher, taking into account the availability of places to meet the student’s level of need in the grade level to which they are applying.

Middle School

The Middle School Learning Support Program is dedicated to providing targeted intervention and guidance essential for navigating the academic demands of the middle grades. Our core focus is on reinforcing critical skills across all disciplines, specifically in mathematics, literacy, and executive function development (study skills and organization).

Multi-Tiered Support Models

We utilize a flexible array of service delivery models to integrate support directly into the academic environment:
In-Class Co-Instruction: Learning Support teachers collaborate with content specialists through in-class support and co-taught sessions.
Differentiated Practice: We partner with core subject teachers to ensure seamless differentiation and tailored instruction within the curriculum.
Early Intervention: We prioritize early identification and targeted intervention through continuous formative assessment and a proactive Response to Intervention (RtI) framework.

High School

The High School Learning Support program is designed to provide qualified students with advanced, targeted support essential for success in rigorous high school coursework and beyond. Our curriculum is specifically engineered to develop and strengthen core academic competencies across reading, writing, and mathematics, while simultaneously promoting essential executive function skills.

Integrated Instruction: Support is provided through co-taught classes, ensuring direct access to the curriculum while receiving specialized strategies within the subject area.
Testing and Transition Services: We provide comprehensive support for planning the student's future academic path:

Accommodation Management: Learning Support case managers are responsible for overseeing the application and administration of testing accommodations with College Board (for AP, PSAT, and SAT exams) contingent upon students who meet eligibility requirements and possess current psyche-educational diagnostic documentation.
