College Counselling Department

Karachi American School offers a rigorous, college preparatory academic program within a demanding and competitive environment. The College Counseling Department supports students from Grades 9 to 12 through a structured university planning process.
Our College Counselling Department provides structured, individualized, proactive and dedicated support to students and families starting in Grade 9 and guiding them through the entire college admissions process with clarity, expertise and care in order to maximize
beneficial outcomes.
We focus on academic planning and exploration of interests. Beyond academics, we help students cultivate purpose in their extracurricular, supercurricular, and community engagement experiences. We believe that colleges also seek character, curiosity, leadership and impact. We offer guidance in subject selection and AP course selection to ensure suitability for college requirements.
Each student works closely with a dedicated counselor through regular one-on-one meetings. This structured approach ensures that milestones are met within the timeframe. This tailored guidance is offered through regular one on one meetings with their counsellor.
The College Counselling Department focuses on strategic preparation for university
applications, including:
● College and university research and building lists
● Standardized testing guidance
● Personal statement development from thoughts to execution to fine tuning
● Supplement essays review and feedback
● Recommendation planning
● Application submission
● Tracking of applications, required materials and documentation ensuring all materials are
correct and submitted on time by students
● Liaising with colleges and universities to submit official documentation
For students considering alternative pathways, individualized guidance is provided to explore and pursue options beyond conventional routes.
As part of school policy, Karachi American School does not offer SAT preparation courses on
campus.
Although College Counseling appears on transcripts, there is no scheduled class period. Support is provided through individual meetings, workshops, small group sessions and ongoing communication and we ensure that families feel informed, supported and confident throughout
the journey.
This dedicated College Counseling Department was established in the summer of 2025 to provide individualized guidance and sustained support to students and families in an increasingly competitive world. All our students go on to pursue a post secondary education, with the US, Canada, the UK and Europe being the top choices
