Important Admission Information

KAS is a highly selective school and has small class sizes. It is important for the families to apply early and follow the deadlines for admissions. For the new academic year beginning in August of a given year, we start accepting applications in the first week of January. The applications are processed on first come basis, on specifically assigned dates.

Classes for all grade levels begin in the first week of August. There may be no seats available for families of children who wait until late May or late in the summer to apply.

The acceptance rate varies for grade levels. In general, approximately 70% of those who apply to our school are turned away. Incomplete applications, or those with missing documentation, will not be processed. No decision concerning admission will be made until all information is complete.

Grade Placement Chart Criteria – For Applicants entering 2 till 12

Karachi American School has a selective admissions policy. Students are admitted and placed according to standards established by the Admission’s Committee.

All applicants applying locally, age 6-18, complete a three-part admissions test: a standardized test measuring reading comprehension, and mathematical computational and problem-solving skills. The applicant’s writing sample is measured against grade level norms at the Karachi American School. A review of grades at previous schools and letters of recommendation completes the process. All applicants are screened for developmental readiness & behavior. The screening takes place on site in the classroom and in the program they will attend.

Grade level placement is determined by the applicant’s age, educational background, in-house placement testing and evaluation, and by meeting the admissions criteria. Age appropriateness is determined by the applicant’s birthday falling on or before October 1st for Grades K3 to Gr.12.

Steps To Apply

The steps to apply for Admission are:

Please review all the information on our Admission web-link.
Print out and fill up the information on the application. (Do not print back to back).
Attach the required documents as per the checklist
Contact the Admission office for an appointment to submit the paperwork.
No visitors are allowed on campus without prior appointment or a completed application.
Overseas applicants can courier a completed application package to: Admissions Office, Karachi American School, KDA Scheme # 1, Amir Khusro Road Karachi – 75350, Pakistan

International Applicants

Overseas International applicants can apply throughout the year.

International Applicants can apply for a position on the wait list if a certain Grade is closed for admissions.

The applications are processed on first-come basis; therefore, it is imperative to keep the timeline and limited seats in mind.

Waitlist

Waitlists are maintained for grades that become full.
All applicants must go through the admissions procedure and obtain a formal ‘wait-list’ notification to have their child listed on the waiting list.
In case a current student withdraws, and a seat becomes available, the applicant will be notified immediately on a merit basis.

The duration of the wait will determine if the applicant is to be retested.

Waitlisted applicants only pay once for the processing.

Please note that most of our middle school and high school grades become full very quickly, and if there is a delay, it is most likely that applicants for grade levels 6 and above will have to apply for a position on our waitlist.

Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Nota Bene

Please note students who are studying in Pakistan at the time of admissions, enrolled in a local school are defined as ‘Local’ applicants.

‘International’ applicants are students studying outside of Pakistan, at the time of admissions, regardless of the nationalities of the applicants. Applications must be filed well in advance for the completion of application processing. It is advised for all overseas applicants to send in their application paperwork prior to making the move.
